Footprints of termite

Termite leave traces like all animals when they have gone somewhere. Below is a drawing of the signs of termite. You can see the thick stripes where the leg would get traction. The thin line in the middle is the lingering trace of the abdomen.

These traces could be detected by chance when a forest ant briefly in a glass jar was left to another place to identify. The pot was also etching material left behind. This nesting was a bit damp so there was condensation on the inside of the pot. The ant wanted to climb up and then left these traces on the wet glass.

The ant was released after examination. To be precise: these are the traces of the bare red forest ant.
