The ant-maps database stores information about Formica nests. Most of the nests are visited frequently. By collecting information about sizes, ant activity and species it is possible to see changes in a Formica population over a long period of time.
- The database information is organized by research site. You can find a full list of sites here.
- For each site there is a list of colonies and a distribution map with corresponding nest numbers.
- For each nest there is general information page, redirecting you to the nests observations, photo’s and maps.
Click on the map for sites in these countries or go to the site list.
Since august 2009 I use Google Earth and GPS. The old maps are still available here:
